Emirati businessman Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri now owns the world’s most expensive car plate, bearing the number "1," after paying $14 million, thereby entering the Guinness World Records, following his win at an auction held the day before yesterday in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
The total amount raised from the auction, which involved the sale of 90 car plates, reached $24 million. It is expected that a quarter of the auction proceeds will be used to establish a distinguished specialized hospital dedicated to treating car accident victims in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
It is worth noting that Khouri had also purchased the number "11" for over $2 million at the fourth auction last year.
In press statements following his acquisition of the number "1," Khouri affirmed that he would not part with this number, adding that his goal in participating in the auction was to contribute to charitable and humanitarian efforts through the event organized by Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with Emirates Auction.
