The auction, held by the Abu Dhabi Police General Command in partnership with Emirates Auction at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi last night, amassed more than AED 30 million from the sale of a diverse collection of distinctive numbers. This included 81 distinctive numbers from the sixth category, comprising single-digit, two-digit, three-digit, four-digit, and five-digit numbers.
Ahmed Ahli, who won the single-digit number "9" after the bidding concluded at AED 10 million, expressed his delight at securing this number. He considered it "a strong start to the new auction season in Abu Dhabi, which promises to potentially break many records for distinctive vehicle plate numbers in upcoming auctions." He also praised the auction’s organization and "the selection of distinctive numbers that catered to the preferences of the bidders."
For his part, Brigadier Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Director of the Privatization and Resource Development Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, affirmed that the auction—organized by Abu Dhabi Police with support from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Emirates Palace under the slogan "A Distinctive Number for a Distinctive Purpose," with its proceeds dedicated to supporting community-benefiting projects—garnered significant attention and an increase in the number of bidders and attendees.
He commended the interest shown by citizens and residents in participating in these events, which are harnessed to serve humanitarian and charitable projects. "Through the auction, they can acquire their preferred plates while contributing to the distinctive goal of supporting projects that benefit the community."
