Masar 71 Rally A Journey Fueled by Love for the Homeland on Union Day
November 10, 2024 | Al Khaleej

Participants will embark on a unique journey stopping at six destinations in the emirate. The rally begins at the Sharjah Classic Car Museum, from which drivers head to Al Badayer Retreat, then Sharjah Safari, followed by Al Rafraf Retreat in Kalba, then Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, Dibba Al Hisn, and finally return to the club.
The event is set to be both cultural and festive, introducing the public to various cities and areas of Sharjah while highlighting its most attractive tourist destinations that draw visitors from all over the world.
Launched in partnership with Sharjah Driving Institute and Emirates Auction, “Masar 71 Rally” celebrates the UAE’s national identity. It offers participants an opportunity to experience both their passion for classic cars and their love for the homeland. The aim is to provide an entertaining and culturally rich tourist experience as the rally traverses Sharjah’s deserts, coasts, and mountains, all bearing witness to the emirate’s natural beauty and diversity, thereby supporting tourism and showcasing Sharjah as a must-visit destination for both UAE residents and international travelers.
Boosting National Identity
Dr. Mohammed bin Butti Al Hajeri, Vice Chairman of the Club’s Board, said: “Following last year’s success of ‘Masar 71 Rally’ – an innovative idea combining tourism promotion with celebrating Union Day – we return this year with a new journey infused with a passion for classic cars and national pride. Through this rally, we aim to create a cultural and touristic experience that blends heritage with innovation, reinforcing Sharjah’s status as a destination that marries tourism with a rich history.”
He added: “Our passion for classic cars beautifully coincides with the spirit of Union Day, as these cars are part of the national memory, with some dating back to the founding of the UAE. We hope each vehicle can share stories from the past, conveying a message of love and loyalty to the homeland and its wise leadership. This reflects a deep connection to our Emirati heritage and fosters a festive environment that attracts participants and visitors alike.”
Showcasing Heritage
Tareq Abdul Rahman Al Saleh, CEO of Sharjah Driving Institute, said: “We are proud of our partnership with the Sharjah Old Cars Club in this event, which reflects the spirit of the Union and celebrates our nation’s rich heritage. Our support for the rally highlights our commitment to national values and recognition of the significant development our country has witnessed since its founding.”
He added: “We are dedicated to supporting events that emphasize our national heritage and strengthen the sense of pride and belonging among citizens. Through this partnership, we aim to create a memorable experience for participants while highlighting historic moments that are key to our nation’s journey.”
Participation Guidelines
The rally focuses on completing the full distance rather than finishing in the shortest time, thus encouraging safety and avoiding speeding. Participants must follow opening and closing times at each of the listed destinations. Every driver receives a special rally “passport” to be stamped at each stop, and at the finish line, winners are honored on a podium next to their cars and awarded commemorative shields.
The Sharjah Old Cars Club has set out participation conditions for “Masar 71 Rally,” which include advance registration, valid vehicle registration, a vehicle age of at least 30 years, adherence to speed limits, and ensuring the vehicle is in good mechanical condition. Participants must also comply with the event’s traffic rules, route, and schedule, running from 10:00 AM on December 2 until 8:00 PM.
