In the heart of the UAE’s vibrant cultural heritage, and under the generous shade of the blessed palm tree, Dubai is set to host the second edition of the “Dubai Dates Festival” on July 25. The festival has become a unique platform to celebrate a rich agricultural legacy that spans centuries, reflecting the deep-rooted bond between the Emirati people and the palm tree.

This exceptional event showcases the finest varieties of local dates, as elite farmers compete to present the fruits of their hard work and dedication. The festival is infused with the spirit of heritage and innovation, offering an experience that blends the authenticity of the past with the creativity of the present.

Organized by the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, the event aims to honor the palm tree and reinforce its role as a vital symbol of the UAE’s national identity and cultural heritage. With support from government bodies and institutions dedicated to agriculture and sustainability, the festival draws thousands of citizens, residents, and tourists annually. It serves as a unique meeting point between culture and economy, tradition and modern agricultural advancement.

In addition to competitions and exhibitions, the festival features a wide range of cultural activities, awareness workshops, and live performances that highlight the palm tree’s central role in Emirati society—particularly its contribution to food security and the national economy. More than just an agricultural event, Dubai Dates Festival is a celebration of deeply rooted identity, and a tribute to local farmers who preserve ancestral traditions and cultivate the future with dignity and perseverance.

Community Engagement

Held at Al Remal Fort on Dubai–Al Ain Road, the eight-day heritage event opens daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, featuring numerous competitions and activities focused on palm cultivation and date production. The festival acts as a vibrant link between past and present, reconnecting the community with its living heritage.

This year’s edition includes 13 diverse competition categories, including two that were introduced for the first time last year:

- “Nakhlat Al Bayt” (Homegrown Palm – Dubai & General), sponsored by Farjan Fund

- Government Entities Category

- “Helwat Dubai,” one of the rarest and most in-demand palm varieties, sponsored by the Al Shindagha Museum – Dubai Culture

- “Nokhbat Dubai,” sponsored by Emaar

Other categories include:

Largest Date Cluster (Dubai and General), Khneizi Dubai, Khalas Dubai, Khalas General, Boumaan General, Nokhbat General, and Al-Nadr Cup.

A Unique Experience: Premium Palm Auction with Emirates Auction

For the first time, this year’s edition includes a dedicated auction for premium palm trees, held in collaboration with Emirates Auction, and running for seven consecutive days. The auction offers a distinctive experience that combines the symbolic and commercial value of high-quality Emirati date varieties.

A Cultural and National Message

Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, stated:

“We have worked to transform ‘Dubai Dates Festival’ into a vibrant community space where the palm tree—one of our most cherished heritage symbols—meets people and their daily lives. This event is a social and national message that aims to strengthen the bond between people and their land, and to preserve a heritage that forms a vital part of our Emirati identity.”

He added:

“The launch of several new initiatives this year—such as the Palm Auction and the ‘Helwat Dubai’ category—reflects this commitment. The palm tree is more than just a tree; it is a symbol of generosity, roots, and intergenerational connection.”

Bin Dalmouk also emphasized the importance of institutional partnerships in making the festival a success, thanking both public and private sector sponsors:

“Thanks to this cooperation, we are able to deliver an event that elevates public awareness of the palm tree’s cultural, economic, and social value.”
