Sheikh Al Maktoum Donations Contribute AED 50 Million to Al Jalila Foundation’s Charity Auction

At the forefront of the items auctioned was the helmet worn by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, when he won the 2012 Endurance World Championship. It sold for AED 24,050,000. Another highlight was the horse saddle used by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, during his victory at the 2014 Endurance World Championship in Normandy, France, which fetched AED 2,400,000. Meanwhile, the license plate “Dubai 09 – دبي” belonging to His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum generated the second highest return in the auction at AED 23,900,000.

Other items auctioned included an Arabian horse, a luxury travel package, a 300-year-old collection of rare Quranic manuscripts, a sculpture by a renowned Emirati artist, an antique rifle, several luxury watches, and distinctive mobile numbers.

The charity auction took place during a gala dinner attended by more than 350 guests, including Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, Chairperson of Dubai Healthcare City Authority and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Dr. Raja Al Gurg, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and member of the Board of Trustees at Al Jalila Foundation; His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Director General of Dubai Health Authority; His Excellency Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai; members of Al Jalila Foundation’s Board of Trustees; and a number of prominent philanthropists and community leaders.
